I just wondered if anyone who made homemade wine knew the amount of sugar in other wines. Does this affect the calories of the wine?(greatly like raising it 100 a glass or something of the sort)
thats a hard one, almost impossible to answer! I googled this, dont know what kind of homemade wine you are looking at.....red/white? Grape or other fruit?
"The amount of sugar in a glass of wine is small but sugar isn't the only calorie producer in that glass. Keep in mind that the wine maker converts fruit sugars into alcohol when fermenting wine. So it's no surprise to see small amounts of sugar in wine and shouldn't be a surprise that the calories remain in the fermented alcohol. What might be surprising is that the alcohol has more calories per gram than sugar. A gram of sugar averages 4 calories while a gram of alcohol is 7 calories."
"How much Residual Sugar (RS) is in your wine? It depends on the type of wine, of course, but here are some general guidelines:
DRY wines may have little residual sugar (0.1 to 0.2 percent), SEMISWEET wines usually range from 1 to 3 percent, and LATE HARVEST wines may range as high as 28 to 30 percent."
I need a mathamagician...its still to early for such things today.
It is a red cabernet sauvignon...(i think)
