London, U.K. (AHN) - A bottle of beer found at the wreck of the burned Hindenburg in 1937 is up for auction in Britain and is expected to fetch for £5,000 or $8,337.
The undrinkable Lowenbrau lager was one of six unopened beer found by fireman Leroy Smith at the landing site of the German airship in Lakehurst airfield in New Jersey on May 6, 1937. Coming from Frankfurt, the Hindenburg burst into flames upon landing killing 38 people
Later they found the Fireman's ice chest had fallen out the back of the Fire Truck. The heat from some of the wreckage melted it exposing the fireman's locally obtained brew!!! Who knew??
