Finally got around to brewing my first batch of beer. Went with a simple one for the first time around (German Amber Ale) and after a lot of stumbling around got the wort cooked yesterday. Last night I saw my first couple bubbles and this morning the yeast was cranking away and the airlock was bubbling like mad. If all goes well I'll be bottling it in a week or two then letting it age until New Years. Not a long aging process but long enough for it to get carbonated and things to settle.
Doesn't seem to be much interest in home brewing here, bummer.
For those reading anyway... I bottled the batch yesterday and now comes the hard part, waiting for it to age.
Overall not a bad experience for a first batch. The taste test says I have a decent beer, even with my little mistakes, so I'm looking forward to cracking one open around Christmas to sample the end result then enjoying them on New Year's.
Will probably start another batch next week... Red Ale this time.
