Saw Paula Deen make this on her show. I might alter mandarin oranges for the fruit cocktail. This is especially well received at Christmastime. This is also great to use up stale doughnuts.

Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding with Butter Rum Sauce

2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
2 (4.5-ounce) cans fruit cocktail (undrained)
2 eggs, beaten
1 (9-ounce) box raisins
1 pinch salt
1 or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Butter Rum Sauce, recipe follows

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cube donuts into a large bowl. Pour other ingredients on top of donuts and let soak for a few minutes. Mix all ingredients together until donuts have soaked up the liquid as much as possible.

Bake for about 1 hour until center has jelled. Top with Butter Rum Sauce.

Butter Rum Sauce:
1 stick butter
1 pound box confectioners' sugar
Rum, to taste

Melt butter and slowly stir in confectioners' sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving of Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.

* I read the reviews and many seem to say it bakes up anywhere between 30 mins and 1 hr so this is one to keep an eye on.

This sounds good to me too. But in my area it would be $15 just for the donuts. Too rich for my blood.

That's a bad recipe for people that have no self-control and they eat the whole thing. Then have a heart attack.

I would probably get sick eating that. It does sound good though.

I rarely get to watch Oprah but was home one day when Paula Deen was on. (Bonus for me, I love to cook) Oprah asked Paula about the comments that the southern food that Paula prepares isn't healthy. Paula replied back to Oprah (paraphrased) "I tell them I am your cook, not your doctor!". It was cute.

As yummy as this sounds, it's death on a plate. I adore Paula Dean and I worry about her health.

If you look at the review for this recipe on food.com, you will see that many people that adore Paula and her recipes did not like this recipe - too sweet is the main complaint.

Yikes!

too rich for my blood. Last time I ate a krispy kreme donut, I felt a little tightness in my chest. And it was a normal glazed donut.
