Shelf life for Juicing?
Hey all,
I've been juicing now for a few weeks and it's made a big difference for the better in many ways. However my question has to do w/ the shelf life of juice made from a juicer. I have been doing a big batch that will last me a few days and storing the excess juice in the fridge. It still taste good on the third day but I'm wondering what the max shelf life is for juice made from a juicer that is stored in the fridge. I don't know if the specific ingredients make a difference but my mix is as follows.
4 Kale Leafs
1 Cucumber
4 Celery
4 Carrots
1 ginger
1/2 Lemon
3 Apples
Have a good one

24 hours in fridge in glass jar filled to top....longer than that I wouldn't save it. Maybe make smaller batches. If I bring to work I keep it in a cooler

The juice will actually last up to 72 hours in the refrigerator. The downside is it will already start breaking down the nutrients somewhat. I think it's best to juice less at a time and then juice daily.

the juice loses its vitamins in a few hours, best to make only a few at a time and put a few drops of lemon juice in them if your want to keep longer.. as they wont do their job properly if kept overnight even in a fridge.

Something else to consider besides the above times mentioned is the type of juicer being used. Juice will be better using a masticating juicer rather than a centrifugal juicer. I have the Omega 8006 and it operates at a slower speed, therefore less air gets in it. I tried a centrifugal like the Breville and it seemed to have more foam and separate. I keep my juice in glass, 24 to 48 hrs, no more, with lemon in it also.

Juice it, drink it. Best that way. Longer it sits the more energy it looses. (vitamins)

The only problem I have is the fresh veggies getting used up or going bad. I want to save and buy bulk like spinach but I don't use it or like buying bananas, they all ripen at once and it's hard getting to the store a few times a week.
