There must be some age-old wisdom about eye floaters surely? I have not heard any, but that doesn't mean it is not out there.

So, anyone got anything we can try?

As far as I know, it is caused by clumps of dead cells floating in the aqueous humor in the eyeball and shows up as dark shadows which follow your eyesight as it moves around and these shadows can be seen clearly against a light background.. This is something that naturally occurs as we get older I believe.

Just got thru with cataract surgery and both DR's told me that nothing can be done for floaters short of a different surgery.... very costly.

SOOoo, it doesn't bother me as much now :-)

Firstly try not to be too stressed out about them I have had Posterior Vitreous detachment in both eyes , the right eye 4 years ago and the left eye in the past three weeks . After having my eye checked out because I was getting the horrible flashes I was told the floaters will diminish in time however the time they diminish in can be years . I found the floaters in my right eye very stressful and disturbing but didn't think anything could be done for them so I let nature take its course and over the 4 years they diminished somewhat. However this time when my left eye was affected I was prepared and immediately started taking beetroot juice , Acai juice , Eyebright herb and hemp oil capsules and over a week of taking these supplements and drinking the juice I can say with some conviction there is a vast improvement they haven't gone completely but the 'dust' like speckles have greatly reduced in number and the bigger floaters have faded quite dramatically compared to the time before when I didnt take anything. My sight is much clearer too so the remaining floaters are less bothersome . I intend to keep up this regime for three months hopefully by then the bigger floaters will be even more faint . So there is hope and please don't give up . The liver is implicated in eye floaters so a liver detox is a good way to start hence the beetroot juice . Eyebright a great herb for eye health and hemp oil is known to have had great results in helping clear floaters from eyes .Acai juice is a fantastic anti oxidant.

I have heard that it has something to do with the liver. So anything that assists the liver in detoxifying would appear to help. I've had luck with green leafy vegetables. I used to end up with floaters during recovery from any illness, like the flu or a cold, times when the body wasn't working that efficiently.

There is a cure for everything...just bec they haven't found it or believe in it
means nothing to me.
Keep trying.

I had floaters. Also was told "nothing you can do". I took a product called "Senior Eye Vision" by Puritan's Pride. (I have no financial interest in this company). Lutein is a good herb for eyes, and bilberry, as someone said.
I took this product for months, when I stopped, the floaters came back, so I kept taking it.
then about a year ago, I was getting lazy about taking it, and now I notice that even if I don't take it I don't have floaters.
I try to remember to take it anyway, as I am 67, and to help keep my eyes healthy.

It also seemed to me when I was taking it, that my night vision improved.
You can look it up and see the ingredients.

I have a lot of floaters, and I believe I may also have posterior vitreous detachment (although have not been confirmed from eye doctor).

I have been taking eyebright, astaxanthin, and a combo lutein/zeaxanthin, and these seem to be helping me. I also have pure rosewater (hydrosol) which I spray in both eyes. All of this has been slowly helping, and I will continue to do this regimen. Yes, I am 64, and sadly all of this comes with aging.

Had not heard that about the liver, however the best detox herb for liver is milk thistle; and I also take this daily.
