Hi. DMT is the extracted component of Ayahuasca, and other plants. Ayahuasca is the term for both the vine, Banisteriopsis caapi and it is also the name of the actual shamanic brew. This vine is always the main component of the brew, and is combined with various admixtures. Ours was chacruna and sanango.

Smoking pure DMT is generally a quick trip, compared to the usual Ayahuasca 4 to 6 hour journey. I have never tried smoking DMT, and probably never will. Ayahuasca brew can be an enlightening, yet scarey experience. It was a crazy near death experience(attempted murder on me) that eventually let me to Peru and the call to Ayahuasca. I think the i posted the story of my attack here in City Data and can probably be found in my past posts. I actually had recurring dreams of vines, which introduced me to Aya. Long, 2.5 year story spanning Ecuador and Peru.

Hope this helps. I personally think you should try the Ayahuasca brew over the smoked DMT. Seems much more rewarding.

Alaskan, did you know you can blog some of your stories right on here? Wish you would--you sound like you've had some interesting experiences.

Sure, Ragazza. It shouldn't be too much longer and I will post a link. Maybe in a couple of weeks, possibly three.

Personally I have never tried it, but I would love to. A very close couple friend of mine recently traveled to South America for the experience. In the company of a shaman they both used Ayuhasca for the upmost spiritual purpose of it. They both came out of it transformed, and completely enlightened.
No words to explain where they had been if that frame of mind, but completely transformed, mind opened and blown.
