WoW. I sure have learned a lot about Olive Oil lately. I had no idea. I love this site just for this reason. I love how the people come out to help each other.

I want everyone to know about olive oil now. These days we need all the help we can get from one another. So if you have an olive oil story, I want to hear it. Thanks

Olive oil is a good substitute for some other oils, but it is not a cure-all. It will not reduce your cholesterol magically. It will not act as a deterrent to diseases on its own.

These things take personal initiative such as exercise (did I say that???) and dieting. It also involves giving up a lo of bad things.

BUT- olive oil is good for you, and I think it tastes better than a lot of other oils

If you use a really good, extra virgin brand, it's a good moisturizer for your skin.

The EV is the best kind....for tatse and health. The darker it is, the more refined it is and less benefits (and taste).

Extra virgin breaks down faster than regular olive oil. It is more for non-cooking or adding to sauces than frying or saute'

Extra virgin is a great fry, saute' medium, I use is all the time, and it has totally replaced many other oils I used to use. Just about every cooking show will use extra virgin for the cooking.

Extra virgin, first cold pressed, is all I use. For cooking and for salads. I love it on salads, with lemon juice added. Yummy.

Some olive oil and a touch of salt is tastier than butter. Try a little over pasta instead of a fancy sauce. It is fast and simple.
