I used to think that this is a body part, now I learn it is a condition.* lol.
I have been diagnosed with it.
And wonder what alternative medicine has to say.
thanks.

this is a definition I got online, much better than what the doctor explained to me.
I think doctors should take a course in how to answer patients' questions, cuz they really suck at it.

* "obstruction of the bowel; specifically : functional obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract and especially the small intestine that is marked by the absence of peristalsis, is usually accompanied by abdominal pain, bloating, and sometimes nausea and vomiting, and typically occurs following abdominal surgery."

Mine did not come following surgery, I do not know what caused it.

My Grama had one because of adhesions from a prior surgery. She was throwing up green bile before they finally figured out what it was (she was in a nursing home). They removed a part of her intestine and sewed it back together and everything worked fine from then on.

My son had one when he was in his early 20s. He was so afraid it was appendicitis (thanks, internet! LOL) so we took him to the ER. They did a CT scan, found the obstruction, and I can't remember what they told him to do. I know what he did do, though....a Fleet's enema. That cleared everything up.

thanks.
I had a terrible cramp once that I thought was appendicitis.
I went to emergency room, and was told I was constipated, and given an enema!

It was a terrible experience, but I was fine after that.

glad your relatives turned out ok
