There isn't a lot of Strong evidence for supplements in general, not a lot of money in supplements...my take on it all. The one great supp I take costs me about $15 or so for a several months' supply, not a huge profit making endeavor for the medical world...plus can't be patented.
One has to draw on faith that some of the supps will help them or just take drugs and do surgeries. We have choices.
"The global dietary supplements market is expected to reach USD 278.02 billion by 2024."
There is a lot of money in supplements.
which is still 1/3 of what we spend in Pharmaceuticals (about 610 billion by 2020) now if you throw in the cost it takes to get to the doctor also for that script it's even higher.
There is a reason why we push drugs and not supplements.
My doctor doesn't push drugs. It is a tool when diet, exercise and/or things like PT and OTCs stop working.

My response was to the statement that there is no money in supplements. There are billions in supplements. Simple fact.
Not to mention the fact that there IS research on supplements, good and bad.
I wonder how many have had Bad supplement experiences. I've had one in 25+ yrs, SJWort elevated my BP as I was still trying to avoid BP drugs and was trying everything I had heard about. Otherwise, MOST are helping me and many don't. But I keep trying as I don't get side effects from trying.
If this can't be discussed in this thread please advise.
I'll wait for BG but I don't think it is as good for OA. My husband is developing OA in a shoulder (he is having his 4th surgery on it) and I asked the doc what we can do to prolong the shoulder OA, and he said the only thing that may help is glucosamine. My husband's GP said Meloxicam is better on the stomach than OTCs, for myself I disagree, Melosicam hurts my stomach.
Glocosamine works for me, have taken it for years, give it a try.
I quit taking Fish Oil and went to intentionally eating more seafood.

Just as an interesting side note, my GF just tested positive for mercury poisoning, and from eating very little fish. We are quite surprised!
