Well, of all things. Just received this from the BoneSmart group who are probably the largest group of hip and knee replacements...pre and post.

This is all new to me, wondering about anyone else.

Well, I've started my research on this Lipogem injection therapy. And have found thru the original link there are about 6 MD's who do this work in my area. I will be making calls today. One has to add their zip code and go from there on the bonesmart page.

Now, have no idea on costs and who knows maybe it's more costly than PRP/Stem Cells.

I had started research on this then dropped it. It came to my attention again today. Forget what I found out and why I dropped my search:

This work is really in the pharma world...orthopedics do it.

Liposuction looks scary...but if it works??? I'm hoping it proves a success for a lot of people.
Seems weird that removing fat from one part of the body and injecting it into another will help, but according to patient testimonials it does...I hope so.

Here's a quick look at what it is.....

Well, it's not a cure but a way to hopefully avoid invasive surgery. Those surgeries are not foolproof and the fat/oil is a cushioning agent, talking to a member on another group he's getting some relief with 1T olive oil daily...it all depends too on how chronic the issues. I'm now using a new herbal for ligaments/tendons and I talk about it in Supplement area...and I'm getting some relief. Those with bone on bone need some oils, and also some who are told they have bone on bone can walk and move and bend their knees, so they have cartilage there. That is me and my knee is pretty damaged.

I just viewed the video and don't think I want to go thru all that. Will stick with what I'm doing and be more on top of olive oil intake.

I never trust the articles of "science reporters" who summarize research papers-- they tend to dramatize and often mis-interpret what is presented. In this case, I bet they're over-emphasizing the "Stem cell & beneficial chemicals" in the injected fat-- probably a theoretical conjecture not substantiated by the research.

OTOH- for 20 yrs orthopods have been injecting joints with fluid to puff them up-- bum joints often get dried out and you get "bone on bone." The natural fluid acts as a cushion to keep the two joint surfaces slightly separated. The injections replace that fluid, but the fluid is essentially a salt solution that gets re-absorbed into your blood over time. Injections need to be repeated every few months, rarely lasting more than 6 months at a time.

By injecting your own fat (no immune reaction results from it) they hope to serve the same lubricating function as the fluid, but it looks like the fat injection lasts a lot longer.

They call it "liposuction" but don't confuse it with the cosmetic procedure where they suck out 40 pounds of fat at a time. Here they're probably only taking a small syringe-full-- like drawing blood, and injecting only 10 cc or so. I would guess.

It appears to be pretty simple and safe. Only you can feel your pain and only you can tell your doc it's time to do something about it.
