Hi ! I am about to move to Concepcion, Chile. I was offered a job teaching English in DoucUC in Concepcion, and I know nothing of the city. I lived in Santiago for 5 months , but i never made it down to Concepcion. I was curious if anyone has any input or advice to give me, or even just any info or opinions on the city would be helpful. I was also curious how the earthquake affected Concepcion, and if anyone has been there since that happened I would love to know how it is. Thanks so much

lindsey

Do you know if DUOC is on strike like the big majority of the secondary and college students? I'm not sure if they are having regular lectures at this point. I ask because Concepcion is known as a left-wing city. Their students usually go on strikes or protests.

I'm back. I talked with some acquaintances from Concepcion. They told me the city is fully re-built and no signs of the earthquake can be seen at this point. "Conce" is a bit slower than Santiago, being much smaller, but you can find almost the same services. Same connectivity, same internet, same everything.

And the situation with the students is the same in Concepcion and Santiago. For detailed info I suggest going to emol.com and look for the English version.

Good luck!
