I say ca-RI-be-in, which I'm guessing was supposed to be the 2nd choice?

I think it's a British/American thing, no? I'd put the stress like this: Ca-rib-BE-an and I'd only expect to hear the bottom pronunciation said in an American accent.

Americans pronounce it both ways. It's not even regional. People who live in the same household can pronounce it 2 different ways. It's very random.

I have a client/friend who's stage name contains "Caribbean", and I continously pronounce it "wrong" according to my fellow Alaskans (I say ca-RI-be-in, but they say it's supposed to be Ca-ray-BE-an.)

The Swedish pronounciation is close to the ca-RI-be-in, which I assume is why I say it that way.

Sometimes I say it cuh-rib-be-an. It feels really odd to try and pronounce it all the different ways.

Car-ah-bein, that's how I say it. Regions, accents, countries etc will say it different like a lot of words.
