How do Jamaican women feel about dating African American men, in kingston jamaica?

A friend of mine went to Jamaica for a weekend and said that the resort isn't real Jamaica, but it's dangeous for americans off the resort. Yet my barbar is Jamaican here in the U.S and he says it's safe to go off the resort, just use the same common sense you would use in any city.

I was thinking of visiting for a couple of months, to relax and have fun before going off to Medical school back her in the U.S, and if I did I wouldn't spend months on a resort.

My choices were between London, Sydney, and Kingston -all english speaking cities- I'm leaning toward Jamaica because of the large black population.

Anyway... My question is about how do Jamaican women feel about dating African American men? I would prefer if some women answered

I'll tell you how they feel $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, you're just an American, no different than a white guy. You're an outsider, you're not going to go down there and feel some sort of "brotherhood".

Kingston is not a place for tourists.

Jamaican culture is very different to African American culture. The only similarity is a shared history of slavery, but in Jamaican blacks have been largely 'running the show' (despite the small white minority being rich) for a long time now. It's more influenced by British culture (e.g. cricket, the accent) than American culture. Some Jamaicans might see some African brotherhood, but all in all I do agree with burgler they'll see you as American most of all.

Because I have friends from many different countries in Africa and Jamaica. They don't have any problems with black americans, but they also don't see black americans as "one of them". You're still an American and they are African or Jamaican. You're not going to go down there and all the sudden be one of them.

You can certainly get along with them, but they won't see you any more "like them" than they would see a white american. You have no clue what they go through in their country, you don't have their struggle and everything you think is hard here, would be a day on the beach to them.

Again, I would highly recommend against Kingston.. it is very dangerous.....

You mentioned London. Plenty of Jamaicans there, same with NYC.

You would have no issues dating Jamaican women however Kingston is not safe and I wouldn't recommend it.

If Kingston is so dangerous, where would you recommend, visiting? A friend of mine said something similar about visiting trinidad & tobago as far as being dangerous for americans even in the day time.

I ask because I'm not really a club type of person anyway, so I know I wouldn't be out at night in Jamaica, I was hoping to meet some women while being out and about...

Speaking of that, so you are saying a jamaican girl wouldn't date me, or only would date me for my money?

my family is from there, it's not for tourists he is right. Even Jamaicans who no longer live in Jamaica but visit are outsiders, the expression 'you come from foreign' means anyone who wasnt born there and/or does not currently live there is an outsider.

I'm being realistic about dating in a 3rd world country.

Have you ever been out of USA or to a 3rd world country before?
