Hello everyone,

There is a possibility that I will be teaching English in Jundiai in a couple of months. I'd like to know somethings from people who have lived for visited the area. The school is located in the neighborhood of Vila Arens. I've googled mapped the area and seems pretty residential. I'd like to know if it is a pretty safe area etc. Things to do. I know its about 40 minutes from Sao Paulo which is awesome. I am really excited about this opportunity. Thanks!

According to the Portuguese Wiki article, it has the fifth highest quality of living and is the 15th safest municipality in all of Brazil, which is why many people from SP move there. So, relax, it must be a very good place You will probably not want to return to the US

I don't know much about Jundiai, but I lived in the city of Sao Paulo for a little while, and absolutely loved it!

I was born in Brazil, lived there as a child and I am not going to sugarcoat it- I don't know any metropolitan areas in Sao Paulo state that I would consider safe. There are better areas and worse areas but crime happens everywhere. I recommend being extremely careful and ALWAYS aware of your surroundings.

I was born in a city(Ribeirao Preto), which is similar to Jundiai in size and population- I was reading an article today stating that the murder rate in Ribeirao Preto went up 80% this compared to 2011 and it is one of the cities with highest income per capita in Sao Paulo state.

In Sao Paulo state right now, there is an all out war between drug traffickers linked to the PCC(Primeiro Comando da Capital)- a criminal group and the Policia Militar (Military Police)

Once again, I am not trying to scare you or anything but I have no interest in painting a picture of the place that is not true. I am sure you will have a good time but NEVER let your guard down!
