Cuba is a segregated country, much like Alabama during the 40's. There are areas of Havana that are white and there are areas with many mixtures. Blacks and mulattoes are relegated and don't hold any responsible position. They are 98 percent of jail population.
Plush areas in Havana are "sundown" neighbourhoods.
Havana still has a large white presence in good areas to the west of the city, Santiago (the second city) is mostly black and Holguin (the third city) is entirely white.
The countryside is mostly white.
Blacks and mulattoes live in very concentrated areas in urban places visited by tourists, they deserted the countryside except the province of Guantanamo, Santiago and a few more.
Since there's a poster from Baracoa, in the province of Guantanamo, Baracoa is a mostly white city and I can attest that since I was 3 month ago at el campismo del Yunque.
Cuba must be the only country in the world in which black/mulatto birthrate is falling, the rationing card only covers 6 days.
Blacks have more exposure since they are used in all "folklorical activities" (much like Gypsies in former socialist countries).
Santiago de Cuba has the largest concentration of blacks and people of African descent than any other area in Cuba. Eastern Cuba is known for having majority black and mulatto populations. There are blacks and mulattoes in Western Cuba bur much scattered out.

When people refer to a 'city' looking european, they generally refer to the architecture, and bones of the city.

In South America, I often hear of cities like Buenos Aires, Cartagena, or Montevideo as looking European. In the Carribbean, it generally seems to be Havana. As opposed to somewhere like Santo Domingo.

I don't know why I haven't heard of Santo Domingo being 'european-like', but it's generally not something I hear in its regards. Havana seems to be one I hear of most in that kind of way.

Yes, Havana followed by San Juan

Blacks and mulattos make up about 45% of the Cuban population. That poster doesn't know what he's talking about. Not to mention that many who pass as "whites" have African ancestry.

If you agree, what makes it so?

If you disagree, why isn't it?

Additionally, what are some other Carribbean cities you'd put in the same category?

Until 1959, no question about it...a very Spanish city, but far more advance than Spain at that time.
Havana was like Argel, a European city in a foreign continent....
But just like Argel, Europeans left and Africans squatted their houses, and everything became a gigantic slum....and the inhabitants of Havana became "pied noirs" living in foreig countries.
The ruins of Havana inhabited by Africans remind me of the ruins of Tetuan, Oran, Casablanca, Argel, etc.

But Castro has scampered them in the west, the so-called Palestinians....a process called "tibetanization".

That is not to say that Cuba has "stunted" without the US, but its cars for instance, are antique in today's time because no more modern cars were imported from the US.

Not a "myth" at all, the only place in the Caribbean were you find white cities, white neighbourhoods, and anybody with a certain responsability is white. Cuba has never been similar to neighbouring countries, not even now.

Cuba is the country with more American influence in the continent, the only country with a section in North America, Miami. Soviet influence has vanished. Cuba is mainly European/American/Cuban.

But demographics say that Cuba is 51% mulattoes/multiracial/biracial/mixed race and 11% are black.

Where did you get that blacks and mulattoes are only 45% ???

Ok. Hmmm. I see. Although there are sources as well as the Cuban American institutes that states that Cuba is 62% mixed race and/or black (but then again it could be a subjective estimate)

But then again censuses and labels are self reported so of course it's not always accurate.

It would be good for everyone to get a DNA test and see what would come up.

Hmm. I see. Interesting. Where did you hear about this? Do you have a link that talks about this?
