Both were had a following in all of Latin America at the same time. Though both performed in different genres of one another as they hailed from different countries of different musical generes(Javier Solis-Mariachi/Mexican Bolero, Barbarito Diez-Danzon), they sung in similar contexts.

Barbarito Diez

(* Bolondrón, Cuba, December 4, 1909; † Havana, Cuba, May 6, 1995) popular Cuban singer of romantic music, as Danzon and bolero. Possessed of a voice "unusually beautiful", 1 is a required icon in the Havana musical evocation of the 1930s romantic. By its unique style of singing to Barbarito Diez Danzon was given the title "The Golden Voice of Danzon".
