Hey everyone! So, I grew up outside of Pittsburgh and went to college in Ohio. Recently, I became a freelancer with steady work. I moved to Raleigh, NC for awhile. I thought it was okay. There was less to do there but I liked the diversity. Now, after a break up my things are in storage and I am back home in Pittsburgh. I work 100% remotely so I am looking for a city to relocate to. I am looking for an affordable city for young professionals. Diversity, cost of living is big for me. Please let me know what you think.

If you have to ask this question, you'll probably never relocate.

That may be true. I just haven't been to a lot of places.

You might want to look into Medellin, Colombia. It's quite popular with young profesionals who work remotely.

Do you speak any foreign languages? If not, are you pretty open to learning?

Does your remote job have much in timezone restrictions?

Do you have a good amount of savings at this point? What is your general budget?

Do you have dietary restrictions? Ate you a picky eater in general?

Do you have friends or family in any of these potential places you're looking into?

Florianópolis in South Brazil is my favorite city in Latin America my spot when I can work remotely. It is an Island, many beautiful beaches, is not so big 500.000 inhabitants, but is a State capital city with many facilities, diverse people, a lot what to do and cheaper than my city (Sao Paulo).

Before you pick up and move abroad, check out the latest restrictions on making withdrawals from US bank accounts while living abroad. Some countries won't even let expats set up a B of A account abroad, now. It has to do with anti-terrorism efforts. The expat communities were a bit flummoxed about it awhile ago. I suppose it would depend on how you plan to get paid for your work.

Otherwise, Ecuador has been popular with American expats: Cuenca, Loja in the south, Cotacachi in the north. It's been stable, but the crash in oil prices brought their economic development program to a screeching halt. Still, the temps in the highlands are a pleasant 68-70 degrees year round, no humidity.
