Why do they join the gang? (country, people, time)

why are people from the nationality of Honduras joining the gang of Mara Salvatrucha when the word Salvatrucha is used for Salvadorians? These gang members from Honduras and Guatemala are basically getting tattoos on themselves of a Salvadorian gang even though at one time Honduras and El Salvador were in a war. I guess this must mean there is no more animosity between them but why get a tattoo of a gang of another country? That's like a Russian having a flag of Germany.

Alot of gangs nowadays are not as ethnic as they used to be, for instance nowadays the Latin Kings has White (Anglo) and Black members.

Also, MS-13 is beyond a gang ... it's more of a terrorist organization. They are waaaaay more sophisticated that the homies on your local street corner.

I'd imagine that the ones joining those gangs aren't the most educated people on earth. They probably have absolutely no idea what that means. Might not even know they are different country's either.

Its pretty sad that Honduran and Guatemalan kids would join trash like MS (or any other gang), But many of the MS members in Honduras and Guatemala are actually Salvadoreans. I am not saying all of them, maybe not even the majority but many of them are Salvadoreans. I have read that almost 1/3 of all Hondurans have some Salvadorean ancestry. At the end of the day, MS itself is a copy of Chicano gangs.

I agree MS, are terrorist. They extort, murder and steal from their own people. MS started in LA, they only became known there because of their numbers, they are really not anymore sophisticated than the average street gang. And MS in El Salvador only flourished there because of poverty, inefficient policing and a weak judicial system, not because there is anything really sophisticated about them.
