Do you ever see Suriname/French Guiana/Guyana as destination countries that one would target specifically as must-visit?

I don't see it, but each of those three countries have some interesting things, that 'on paper' would make them interesting to visit.

Seems like too many other issues going on, and I'm not sure in what way, to really make them a travel destination. I'm thinking of when you go to travel agents, and you automatically see places like 'Puerto Rico', 'Bahamas', 'Aruba'.

What are some of the major things holding these countries back from being larger players in the tourism market?

Good question. I don't know, maybe it has to do with those countries being a lot smaller than their neighbors and they get over looked. They also have very small populations. Their isolation and emptiness is appealing to me. They seem like exotic places, I would like to visit all three.

Most people probably don't know these places exist.

You have point here.
French speaking states are not aggressively advertising for tourism in English speaking countries, this is one of their weaknesses.
Do you that much the province of Quebec Canada advertise in America. I don't see it.
Jamaica ( an English speaking country) is doing way better in promoting itself.
For instance in the 1990s they had this 1800- Jamaica spot on TV.

Quebec certainly does advertise in the northeastern U.S. anyway.

I always thought so too. It's a well-known city to visit. Particularly for New Englanders.

Unless you a reptile fan of dart frogs, there's not much there other than illegal logging of the rainforest.

They are not must visit countries for me, I will try to check out Suriname once in my life just because of the Dutch connection but there are still at least 50 countries in the world i would like to see first.
