If he is in fact a champion of the poor and lifted many out of poverty then hooray ! I also hear that only the " rich" and wealthy dislike his policies because it is they who are loyal to the US.

There is a large number of extremely poor and uneducated people in Venezuela. They will believe anything if someone comes along and promises them the impossible. They don't know any better!
BTW, the poor are still poor in that country, They were when Chavez came into power and they still are several years after he died. Now they are putting their hope in an uneducated bus driver who is taking that country and it's people even further downhill!
