If you want to experience the Amazonian culture and nature, which city would you choose? Manaus? Iquitos? Belem? Tarapoto? Leticia?

Never been, but I would choose Manaus and Iquitos. I would like to travel the entire Amazon in boat starting in Peru all the way to the Atlantic ocean.

Manaus has a great Carnival, and nice lodges in the forests nearby.

Parintins has a famous folkloric festival in the last weekend of June.

Belém has a huge religious event in the second weekend of October, and is one of the main cities in the area, with a great and diverse culinary.

There are also beautiful river beaches in Tapajós river, close to Santarém, from August to December.

Opera Festivals are in Apr/May in Manaus and in Aug/Sep in Belém.

Hello guys,
I wanted to know what peoples thoughts were on Leticia and isla Gorgona. I have to make a quick decision on which destination to go to for a short 4 day stint. Any info would be awesome!
Thank you in advance!

Leticia is quick, easy and cheap to get to. VivaColombia (owned by the European low cost giant Ryan Air) is beginning flights to Leticia at about $80 return from Bogota.

Gorgona is more expensive and more difficult to get to, however it is whale watching season.

Both are good destinations.

I like big cities too I definitely want to see Leticia from what you said haha, but I also want to try Amazonian cuisine and I think a bigger city would be better for restauratns
