Besides the cities of Manaus and Iquitos in Peru is the Amazon just untamed, and untouched jungle?

What about the border regions? Do the respective countries have an active border patrol? I actually heard there are like no roads or modes of transport besides row boats and planes. But that is pretty attractive to smugglers isnt it? If they can find cheap enough labor to hoof all the contraband.

Does Brazil have any military installations out there? The Amazon seems like the largest continuous stretch of untamed, untouched land. Does Brazil or the other bordering countries have like a homestead act in which people go out plant a flag and own the land now?

Also in Venezuela and Colombia, can the Orinoco Basin be considered part of the Amazon, or is it at least a rainforest in its own right?

Parintins seems close to Manaus, and Belem is nearby the coast. This Porto Velho is interesting. Are there any settlements from Porto Velho to Manaus or to the other nearby cities in the other countries? Are there even truck stops?

Yes I am serious about the military installations. Are the borders guarded diligently since the Amazon is teeming with resources? Dont want the neighbors to be peaking or stealing.

What is the picture of that green patch?

From Porto Velho it's possible to go driving to neighboring states and until Lima, Peru, but not to Manaus. (There are ferries that transport vehicles)
From Manaus it's possible to drive until Venezuela.
But distances are huge, so planes are always preferable.

Obviously Brazil has military force in Amazonia, it is the most militarized area of Brazil, and most part of the soldiers are native Indians from the land that they patrol.
Brazil has 25.000 soldiers stationed at whole Amazonia borders, many batallions, radar system, air patroling etc.
