I'm looking to move to a city in either Canada or the US. I'm currently a US citizen but immigration isn't a concern for me. Anyways, here are some criteria:
During the winters, fairly snowy and cold (between 40-80 inches a year)
During the summers, sunny, and in the mid 70s
Nice Fall Foliage
~ I'd like a place that has a hometown hockey team for me to root for nearby
~ Mountains nearby would also be a plus
~ a good looking, clean, safe city
~ a river that flows through the city would be nice too ( or some other body of water )
~ A place that has good business opportunities for someone fresh out of college
~ Fairly liberal (for American standards)
Here are some cities that I've considered, but they all have their downsides. I'm open to Any of these, or other cities.
Portland, OR
Seattle, WA
Vancouver, BC
Calgary, AB
Edmonton, AB
Salt Lake City, UT
Denver, CO
Minneapolis, MN
Madison, WI
Cleveland, OH
Ottawa, ON
Quebec, QC
Most places that have the winter weather you're looking for will be hot in the summers: 90+ degrees, not 70's. (Denver, Edmonton, Salt Lake, etc.) Calgary, historically, has been cooler in the summers, but this summer has had heat waves into the 90's.
