Been to Brazil a few times, but never Carnival. Always heard that Salvador was (low key) the REAL carnival, so a buddy and I made plans to hit both (then he cancelled...lol). Im not averse to traveling solo so will still do it. Salvador for the first few days, then Rio from Sunday going.

My question is more on Rio's event. Since I'll get the street experience in Salvador, I'm was leaning towards the Sambadrone parades in Rio. But I also hear there are a ton of bloco parties as well. Anyone attended them before? Do they work the same way as the Salvador bloco's or do you just find them by word of mouth when you get there?

Oh, open to link up if anybody else is making the trip....
