Dembow is a cheap imitation. Even the "genre" name is a cheap imitation. It's an embarrassment to the illustrious creative music history of Latin America. Anyone with a minimal understanding of music history knows this is not a genre but a single Jamaican 'Riddim' that has been plagiarised to oblivion and back.

To relate it to Kuduro is an insult.

Dominican Republic's Dembow:

Angola's Kuduro:

Personally, they are both raw....I like them both. I hope no one is confusing Angola's Kuduro with that Don Omar song, which is a very polished produced song....not the raw street sound coming out of Angola.

You want a real contemporary musical movement you look at the Selva-Techno movement in Colombia highlighting the Zambo/Creole cultures of Latin America...

Ghetto Kumbé
Cartagena+Guajira+Ghana

Cholo Valderrama
Casanare (Llanos)

Quantic + Pongo Love
Cali+UK+Angola

^^
Agreed. Kuduro fills out entire stages and auditoriums in Colombia and there's collabos with the likes of Bomba Estereo - I hope "Dominican" Dembow never does. Even Angolan Semba was the song genre for the Barranquilla Carnival official song last year and Bonga Kwenda killed it in Petronio in Cali. Kuduro is on another level.
