Some would say that times were better back then, so there´s the nostalgia factor...while it was more of a Public Relations show above all else, Evita worked tirelessly to help the poor, and they identified with her because of that. Peronism actually managed to fit both right-wing and left-wing populists under its giant umbrella during the height of Don Juan´s rule, and I think his wife was important in keeping those on the Left happy. Now to make her a saint..!? Give me a break!
