I don't dislike some of the new stuff either but I do critique the lack of originality in a lot of it, especially 5-10 years ago. I appreciate the primalness of it but loathe the thousands of copy cats that make it sound incredibly generic.

Some of the new reggaeton I like:

I remember the period when reggaetón was almost phasing out, and then it pivoted to the Trap the sound. I'll lump it all in with Urban music(rap, trap, dembow, corrido tumbaos) have all followed a formula. And that formula is basic and catchy. Without sounding like an old man, and dismissing music of today, I rather just accept a lot of it is not my cup of tea. I do like some of it, across all those genres.

I wish this current generation would acknowledge more the roots of Trap--Memphis. It's kind of bananas to me actually to think 3-6 and the South influenced urban music in Latin America some 20 years later. You can hear the influence of the production even today.

I definitely do. Just like any genre, you have good and bad. People like Wisin y Yandel, J Balvin and Zion y Lennox make meaningful original content that isn't repetitive; others not so much.

It’s cool here and there…

But like Pueblofuerte said, the Panamanian dancehall was way better.

We can't forget that "Despacito", the song in the second most viewed video on YouTube history so far, is a reggaetón song

Do you like reggaetón?

Nope, nor Salsa...Merenge and Cumbias.

If you are only listening you miss the point. Its dance music, not for those unable to do so.
