Hi. I am trying to translate a Guatemala Student Transcript for a student who is transfering into a high school in the USA from Guatemala. I see there are 4 evaluation periods (i.e. terms, semesters) but then there is also a column for "final"...the trouble is the grades indicated in the first four columns bear no relation to the final column... for example the grades will be 10.4, 9.2, 10.3 and 7.25 for the periods 1 to 4, then in the final column the grade indicates it is 24.5. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

that's quite normal.
you two have different definitions of "final"

final grade,in his dictionary, is not overall gpa in this semester.Instead, final means one exam called"final exam"

maybe he had 5 exams that semester, and the last one is called final exam.
by the way, final exam is usually deemed more important
