(CNN) -- As Haiti struggles to cope with the aftermath of last week's devastating earthquake, there was a call Wednesday for a modern-day Marshall Plan to build a new nation out of the country's ruins.

In an interview featured on CNN's "Amanpour," the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Kahn, said, "My belief is that Haiti, which has been incredibly hit by different things -- the food and the food prices crisis, then the hurricane, then the earthquake -- needs something which is big, not only a piecemeal approach, but something which will be much bigger to deal with the reconstruction of the country, some kind of a Marshall Plan."

Personally I think this is a great idea, I'd love to see Haiti become a prosperous nation.

My heart goes out to all who were/are affected in the earthquakes.

Rebuild they can't even get help to those elderly people whom are less then one yes one mile from where supplies are going in. They have had one meal since the quake (rice) and a reporter takes them one case of water a day one case for everyone. The orphanage's are out now lets get someone in there to take care of those whom can't help themselves. If they can't get food and supplies to the elderly whom are less then one mile away they got a problem. Forget about money at the moment which is greatly needed lets get some food and supplies to these elderly people. If I don't read by the end of the day or early tomorrow the elderly have got help I think I going to cry. They have two of them sitting in a corner waiting to die in a corner so as not to upset the others. We gotta get them some help now.

They can't get out of there they can't fend for themselves they can't go to a hospital which are overran.

If we were talking about animals you know how many people would be protesting about now.

To my understanding medical supplies are limited but there is plenty of food except for baby bottles I take it. Maybe perhaps formula but even without formula they will give them milk knowine dang gone well it will give them diarrhea and dehydrate them, but it will hold them over till supplies are there they take the chance. Why would anyone stare a human to death??

Why are these HUMANS starving????? Yes Humans.

They are less then one mile from supplies.
