So, I'm flying to Buenos Aires in a few weeks, and I have an 8-hour layover in Bogota. (Of course, once I get through customs, I'm sure it'll be more like 5 or 6 hours.)

Anyway, I'm going to want to spend money at the airport, so I'm curious as to a few points:
  • What's the general vibe of the airport?
  • How safe is it?
  • What currency would be used at the airport? Could I use dollars, or should I bring Colombian pesos with me?
  • What is the cost of a drink at a bar? Would they even card?
  • What would a sandwich or some similar meal cost?

Any other advice you can offer would be amazing. There isn't much on it online. (And what little information I have found is out-of-date.)

  • What's the general vibe of the airport? Just like any airport but TONS of security when you get off and on the plane. When checking into International Flights in Colombia you will NEVER get searched as much as you do there. It's kind of a hassle but Colombia is worth it. They search for drugs, bombs etc because of the political situation there. I swear I was seached about 7-10 from check in to boarding...
  • How safe is it? Safe as any airport especially since they are very sensistive to the Drug situation there with the import and export of Cocaine.
  • What currency would be used at the airport? Could I use dollars, or should I bring Colombian pesos with me? I would use a credit card you get a better exchange rate and you dont want to deal with exhanging money because the rates arent favorably. Capital One Cards dont charge Foreign Fees so I keep one all the time.
  • What is the cost of a drink at a bar? Would they even card?
Not sure If they would card or not because I'm over 21 but they dont have a drinking limit in Colombia that they actually enforce so you should be good.

$7-$10 which is expensive for Colombia but hey its the Airport!

That's pretty much It...Pretty simple just kick back and relax should be alot of stunners walking through the airport and Colombia is known for its beautiful women so maybe you can catch a Miss Colombia contestant? Safe Travels
