Good morning, mal. yes, I'm off to another day of work listening to every expert from Podunk expound on what is wrong with our state.
I'm hoping this is an urban legend....but I was reading that in parts of the UK, you can't order a black coffee in a coffee shop and be served....you have to ask for coffee without milk. Things have gone too far. Too many people are blindly allowing others to tell them what to think and to say, all in I hope of "educating" them. I hope that isn't the truth but... Quote:

Good luck with wherever you and your wife choose to settle. I hope wherever it is you're free from people whom expect your wife to behave in the manner you've described as innate to us. Sara Last edited by saralee : 06-24-2007 at 12:33 PM. |

It is apparent that clorth01 has no respect for the culture and people of his future wife. His apparent "I got a good one" and the rest of "them" are worthless attitude is pretty sickening if you ask me.

Your quote Quote:
Menace II Society was written and directed by Albert Hughes an African American. Menace II Society (1993) Don't Be A Menace... was written by the Wayans Brothers and directed by Paris Barclay, all African Americans. Not sure where your facts are but at least give credit where credit is due. African Americans do a lot of things in this country and lying about even the smaller things in insulting. Don't try to "educate" when you can't even get a single fact straight. |

I'll add a second apology for not being able to answer the original poster's question. I was, and remain offended by his statements regarding his wife and African-Americans. (She's Black you know, but don't worry, she's not like the rest of them ...) Having said all of the above, moderator, please feel free to remove all of my comments if they are misplaced. Finally, I stand by my statements about the above movies NOT being written by African-Americans, even in light of losercore's posts. To say more would be entirely inappropriate here. And none of what I was written was intended to educate anyone here. It's not my place. Furthermore, I'm not a liar nor would lying be worth the effort in this instance and I don't need to be reminded of the contributions Blacks have made to society. That is something I would NEVER downplay. Sincerely, Sara |

Perhaps if u take more time to read carefully the post I responded to and then my response it will help u to see with whom u should take issue with. U see now how important "education" is? "Peace" |

And so, my friends, we Alaskans, once again are labelled as the great, unwashed and uneducated society. I live in a city where 24% of the population has a college degree. I live in a state with the highest per capita population of veterans. I live in a state that is physically removed from the 48 contiguous states below the 54th parallel. I have stated in other posts that I have found the level of acceptance to other lifestyles in Anchorage to be above that found in other places where I have lived and that people here are just fine if you want to think a different way. All the folks up here want is to be left alone to deal with lifes little problems in their own way, without interference and without unsolicited and possibly, unnecessary advice.
Most of us tend to muddle through the world, following our own orbits, heedless of the advice that our loving parents attempted to hand to us. We, as human beings, learn best from our mistakes. Human nature being what it is, most (not all!) tend to get their dander up when a total stranger hands us some unsolicited advice. It was probably hard enough to listen to your parents as teenagers. Accepting advice from strangers is that much harder, and when it comes with a condescending attitude (mental picture of Moses handing down the 10 Commandments), it just makes it that much worse. If the attitude wasn't intentional, it doesn't matter, because the perception is there. Just a few comments from the peanut gallery. I had to put up with folks calling Her (She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed) a slope, a slanty-eyed witch, etc, etc. It's amazing how far we've come in 25 years. I haven't heard the terms except in movies for about 15. I know that there are certain words that can send my blood pressure to the moon, and literally get my hands shaking from anger. With a little "attitude" behind those words, I can actually become a nasty kind of guy. ("You wouldn't like me, when I'm angry." - The Hulk) Everybody has buttons that can be pushed. It just takes a little digging to score someone to the quick. I promise to play nicely with others. I hope that others can do the same. |

Amen, mal, and Danny...I wonder if the strangers who advise are aware at all that a good proportion of the people we deal with in the tourism industry here are not U.S. citizens, which makes some of us rather hesitant to use the term African American.
Mal, don't look at this...it's where the sheepherders tell them what to think... Politically Correct |
