I've stayed away from this thread because I personally consider it ingnorant. If a guy is so insecure in himself and paranoid that he has to "ask permission" if it's ok that he is married to a negro to move up here...well...they need to stay where they are.
I don't judge or label people. I just simply accept them or not. It's 100% based on conduct. Lower 48 values will destroy this state if we let it. I can see it in the posts made by trolls from the low48. |

Well, he did ask an honest question....and I do see how some of his comments could be taken as they were taken. But when the troll from the lower 48 started shaking her finger at me for using the term "black" all under the pretense of "education", it made me realize even more how fortunate we are here to have a proportionately large population well able to think for themselves without the sheepherders to tell them how.

yes, he did ask an honest question, and I gave an honest answer at the beginning...
"your personal life is none of my business".... I'll stand by that.....but some low48'ers consider us primitive and uneducated for thinking that way, or giving such an honest and direct response that is not judgemental or loaded with pre-concieved notions that are in conflict with their own personal opinions, or pre-concieved notions. damn, I used a lot of big words there,.......... |

Rainy, saying "Don't Look" is effectively the same as saying "Wet Paint". It's like driving past the accident on the freeway and berating all the rubberneckers in front of you and then, WHAM. I'm there, and what am I doing? OF COURSE, I'm looking. Darn you, missy, darn you to heck and back. LOL

Yeah...Burt, from what I gather on another part of the forum she claims to be moving here thinking it will be easier for her to find a man. LOL. Guess that explains the need for attention. Hope she looks at the stats before she makes the big move

I'm from the lower 48, and black and white are acceptable terms, even politically acceptable these days. "African-American" is becomming passe even amongst the "progressive" crowd.
The funniest part of "African-American" is the only true African-American I know is white as snow... she was born in Tripoli. |

Most people I know would find Black or African-American acceptable (myself included) but I choked on the reference to being regarded as a "Negro" (above). Not even my great-grandmother identified herself as such (less than) five years ago and I suspect I'd be hard pressed to find someone who would. Am I to believe this is the generally accepted term in Alaska? If it is, please do pardon my ignorance.
