First National Bank of AK works for me. I pay no fees at all, but I'm on direct depost. BOA and other known down south banks aren't up here.

I think there may be one branch for Bank of America in Anchorage. I prefer Credit Unions for normal day to day stuff. less costs. May I suggest you check out http://www.cu1.org
Wells Fargo also has branches in Alaska.

Alaska USA is a great credit union here, also Credit Union 1 is fairly new to the state, we do have Wells Fargo and depending on where you are coming from and if you plan to travel to the lower 48's you may want to go with a nation wide bank such as Wells Fargo. Bank of America is no longer in Alaska anywhere, as far as my self my main banking is Alaska USA for the customer service and I have Wells Fargo for when I travel. I hope this helps

+1 on Wells Fargo. I have a friend who works at the branch on Kodiak.

First National Bank of Alaska. Alaska-owned and operated. One of the safest banks in the nation!

I agree that First National Bank of Alaska is safe but it's not nation wide and they have high fees for what they have to offer.

I have been using Key Bank for the last 16 years without any problems. Also no fees.
