Hi guys,

My mom is visiting me here in Anchorage while Im here for work.
I come here yearly and have never really brought any gifts back other than fish.

Im just curious to know if anybody here has any good suggestions for souvenir/gift shops?
Any gift ideas that would represent Alaska are welcome as well!

I just give fresh or smoke salmon and I dont understand anybody that wants anything else but Im not the one giving the gifts.

I'd bet there are tons of choices downtown. Moose nugget jewelery is always a good gag gift.

I like pottery so I shop small shops and look for local artists.

If you're looking for jewelry Linda Smith has the best stuff. Hard to find but worth it.

Try the market on 3rd. There are several local ulu/knife makers, and at least one furrier that sells great slippers. Lots of other stuff too, like wood and antler carvings, etc.

The Alaska Native Medical Center has some nice Native artwork for sale that is brought in from the villages as folks have appointments at the center.

I purchased a nice ivory bracelet for my wife at the Alaska Fur Exchange that Warptman suggested.
