My husband and I are moving to Anchorage in a few weeks and we are trying to find a rental house that is somewhat meets in the "middle" of where he will be working and where I will be working. He will work on base at Ft. Richardson while I will be working at North Star Behavioral Health off Debarr Road. Any suggestions of good neighborhoods, rental houses, etc. would be appreciated!

How about The Southern End of Muldoon near Tudor road? Are you looking to buy or rent?

Live in Eagle River. Easy commute to both 12 minutes to the base, 20 max to Debarr.

I've been watching craigslist - you can find what you want, but it will likely be between $1250 and $1500... probably more than BAH... (if your husband is military) -one reason my daughter decided to live on post. I'm going through a similar decision process - but I have to wait and see where my job is, before I decided. People have told me the Jewel Lake / Sand Lake area is nice - but it is a longer drive. Good luck!

Does your daughter know about AHRN.com? I am surprised how many military people don't know about that site. It will post all rentals in the area in your sponsor's BAH range. That's how we found our house. We live in a 3 bed 1 bath 1200 sqf single family house, all utilities included 150 less than my husband's BAH. On FT Richardson we would have a 2 bed and a much smaller yard, plus live in a 4 plex....

Thanks - I'm not sure if she does or not... I will let her know! She is getting ready to deploy in DEC.

I would suggest Boniface, or Debarr (duh!) Maybe even Bragaw? Sorry those suggestions weren't really accurate, but once you get a feel for Anchorage hands on, you'll notice how these roads don't really lead towards anywhere very far.
