See you soon!
You already mentioned you had recommendations from people. I'm just saying that some of those areas you mentioned above are not as bad as people say. There are some really nice neighborhoods off Muldoon and the Mountain View area has been getting a makeover for the past few years. It's extremely community orientated and the people there are very friendly. But I feel it's important that you come here and look around for yourself before making any decisions. And take a look at our base housing because most of it is really nice here.
I have lived in base housing that was terrible while in Washington and this is NOTHING like that.
You could probably find a nice 2 bedroom place, about 900+ square feet for about $900 or so.

What you described would be great for us actually. Our 1200 sqft place really seems too big for us and I wouldn't like to pay for under utilized spaced in such an expensive market. Thanks for letting me know that the Muldoon and Mountain View area has areas that I should look into, because from I had heard previously they made it sound like it was out of the question and so I didn't bother to look into it more deeply. I will have about a week once I arrive in anchorage to finalize any housing accommodations and this is just a preliminary exploration of what the options are before I get there. I'm a huge fan of hearing about personal experiences over just browsing the real estate classifieds
