According Forbes magazine, Anchorage is now considered as one of the 5 most dangerous cities in America in 2011 (link below) . I get that crimes can be overstated sometimes, but for Anchorage to be thrown in the same category as Flint and Detroit, it has to be really really bad..... Notice this survey does not even include property crimes, which seem to be most prevalent crimes in Alaska, more or so than the other types. Anyone who's been to the deteriorated ghettos of Detroit or Camden know how bad those areas can get, but how similar are they to the worst parts of Anchorage?. Do you think it was fair that they included Anchorage in this list?

These things are off the wall as far as I'm concerned. Would I rather live in Anchorage opposed to Flint, Michigan or Detroit? In a heartbeat I'd choose Anchorage! I'd be afraid to walk down the street in various parts of Michigan. The problem with Anchorage is it's too crowded and along with decent people you have the unsavory type moving up.

Yup... .. I just got the e-mail from my mother in Boston; She sent me the same page. From Yahoo .. Anchorage is #5 most dangerous city in America.. hum... ??

I know there's lots of people that will disagree with that.. I for one don't buy into that at all.......Too many cites in Chicago, La, and other places would get my vote for sure.

Flint and Detroit were on the same list, and much more dangerous than Anchorage.

One of Anchorage's worst offenses was 'forcible rapes'...since that could be against someone's wife or sister or daughter....

I personally find that most disturbing than trying to avoid the bad part of Flint, for example.

I believe it's the "per capita" percentage they are using... I can't believe it myself even though I have never been to Anchorage... I've lived near south Chicago and I would chose Anchorage over Chicago in a heart beat.... Still doesn't change my mind about moving...
