I thought the FBI only gets involved in kidnapping if they think state lines have been crossed.

I don't open this thread much because I'm afraid of bad news.

I think that Sity is right but it might also depend on how the crime has been classified so far, I don't remember.

I looked it up on the FBI website and it looked unclear, but seemed to be yes for kidnappings always if under 18. I already knew it was always yes for any bank robbery. I've read most of the ADN updates and don't remember hearing about FBI advisory or involvement.

It took me all of 3 seconds to read the article and see the words that the FBI was involved right on the front page.

I swear; that if it isn't in big bold CAPS that hit you in the face or if it isn't listed on google or the net then it mustn't be true!

People just don't take the time to read ALL OF THE WORDS; then they form opinions...without having ALL of the FACTS!

The FBI doesn't usually advertise their involvement in cases; their normal way of operating is to make every thing look normal - as thought they are not even there!
They are without any doubt the best in the world at what they do.

You are wrong. Criminal Resource Manual 1034 Kidnapping -- Federal Jurisdiction

Just because the FBI lends support to an investigation doesn't mean it will be prosecuted as a federal crime.

Sity, I'll try to make this clear enough for you to understand. You said all kidnappings are federal offenses. They are not. You are wrong. I have no idea what point you're trying to make about parental abductions of minors, as that has nothing to do with this case. Here is the Alaska statute defining kidnapping as a state offense: http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/akstatut...03./11.41.300.
