What is the gender balance like in Anchorage? I've heard tales that it's strongly skewed towards men, but the demographic data I've found suggests the split is more even.

Pick another state. Alaska women are strong, smart, independent, and the last thing we need is some out of work loser who wants to "shack up" with us. With two bases connected to town, we have our pick of compatible candidates.

Try creating a POF account as if you live in Anchorage and see what kind of results you get, even take it as far as agreeing to meet up (even though you know you cant), exchange numbers the whole bit and see how much genuine interest you get. The term "shack up" has a rather negative connotation, and the title of this thread...well, anyway, I can see how someone would get a certain perception...anyway, Anchorage has a fairly even male/female ratio. I think that in Palmer, there are actually more women than men. If you have no problem meeting women where you live now, you'll have no problem in Anchorage. It's a myth that the population of Anchorage contains substantially more males than females.
