What is the gender balance like in Anchorage? I've heard tales that it's strongly skewed towards men, but the demographic data I've found suggests the split is more even.

It's possible that I might move up there in the near future, and as a single male in his early 30s, finding a lady to shack up with is kind of an important consideration. Thanks for your input.

That's just about the worst place to be a man - Alaska is horrible.

See the ratios here. Adjust the slider to restrict by any age.

Pick another state. Alaska women are strong, smart, independent, and the last thing we need is some out of work loser who wants to "shack up" with us. With two bases connected to town, we have our pick of compatible candidates.

I am not out of work. I don't know what in my message might have implied that. Nor do I consider myself a "loser."

Furthermore, by "shack-up with," I mean form a lasting and significant relationship, despite whatever perspective you've brought into the conversation that makes you feel that I meant something different.

Maybe you should think about what other people are trying to say before you launch personal attacks at them. I know that's not the typical way people on the Internet interact with each other, but maybe give it a try, yes?

The sausage fest happens downtown on 4th Ave during the summer. You might want to check it out since you're into sausage. I've heard more then a few people say that MA has the best. Little video for your viewing.

I have always enjoyed getting there. It only happens in the summer. I have only been 3 times now.

I sent you a PM. Try creating a POF account as if you live in Anchorage and see what kind of results you get, even take it as far as agreeing to meet up (even though you know you cant), exchange numbers the whole bit and see how much genuine interest you get. If you exceptionally good looking guy you might be ok.

Plenty of people have non 907 area codes so that wont be an issue.

The term "shack up" has a rather negative connotation, and the title of this thread...well, anyway, I can see how someone would get a certain perception...anyway, Anchorage has a fairly even male/female ratio. I think that in Palmer, there are actually more women than men. If you have no problem meeting women where you live now, you'll have no problem in Anchorage. It's a myth that the population of Anchorage contains substantially more males than females.

Just get out and meet people the old-fashioned way and stay off the dating sites, and you should be fine.
