I have seen 2 mountain lions in Sterling! I called the Fish and Game and they had no clue why they were here. And one had a radio collar on it! But they did have about 15 reports of sightings before they disapeared.

Finally, someone else who has seen one too. I seen one as well down by Birchwood Camp grounds. He spotted me and I spotted him. I was on the lake dock and he was down by the shore getting a drink about 500 yards from the cabins. I usually have my camera with me everywhere I go but that day I had left it in the car. I noticed tiny fish jumping out of the water and wanted to see what they were, at time I had only been in Aaska a couple months and was out exploring. I have going back there on a reguar basis trying to see him again, so far no luck. Thats how it goes. I have also seen and got pictures of wild turkey hen and her babys down in Butt. I seen ring neck pheasants on East End Road in Homer. I was alone when I seen the cougar but with a friend when we seen the others. Everyone says no way, those animals are not here. I have pictures to prove they are.

Yes there are pheasants in Homer. We used to get them and quail at my Dad's. Somebody on Robinson Loop was raising them and they would travel a couple miles to get at our chicken feed. And even turkeys in Sterling and Cooper Landing now. I think a guy in Cooper Landing got into trouble for letting them go.

Do I even admit to having the same types of dreams? Hmmmm, I do/did!!!

Default Whoa... you don't have to get that involved...

Hi! Though I am in awe of Dances with Wolves man from the previous response (all in fun!), let me tell you things from a city-dweller's standpoint. I don't carry ANYTHING with me. I see moose all the time. I camp and hike. I possibly should be safer (people like to think they are safer with pepper spray), but there are NOT packs of wolves chasing anyone through or near Anchorage as far as I know. I grew up here and have rarely felt unsafe - and have never felt unsafe in Anchorage. If you come from a place where there are not animals in cities then I suppose it seems crazy - but wolves aren't going to hunt you down - even if they did live in Anchorage. You'll love it here!

I lived in Anchorage for 14 years and the only animal I came into contact with that MIGHT pose a threat if messed with, woudl be a moose. I've seen bears, wolves, moose, and others and never had a problem. As long as you don't mess with the animals, then you should be fine.

Beware of moose perching in trees! They love to ambush tourists by pouncing on them from above.

Well, at least for the most part, mine are a lot more entertaining than normal network television. Often, my dreams tend to suspend the laws of physics (really like the floating/flying ones) I seldom have nightmares anymore, but, it's been a while since I was last shot at or experienced explosions up close and personal. In dreams, my sense of humor seems to take reins and gallop in interesting directions. I'll not go into detail on erotica.
