Okay, my small amount of time recently spent on this post has me thinking about Anchorage, Alaska and the wild predators that live there. I just spent last night running from wolves in a nightmare!

The only wild animals that you need to fear is the 2 legged ones, and even then if you use common sense and don't put yourself in dangerious situations, chances are your pretty safe from them to.
I spend a great deal of time interacting with the dangerious wildlife here, including a pack of wolves which I have photographed and interacted with, even having one of the young males coming up to me and allowing me to touch him. I also have been in very close proximity to grizzlies and black bears, some by chance, some by being able to read the animals comfort level and knowing how to act when you do stumble across a bear by accident. I keep track of a family of red foxes and a family of silvers. I know the mooses I see on a regular basis and know them by scares and they give them all names. But I always have my pepper spray, my airhorn, my gun and my knife in my belt harness. Shooting is last resort. Only one time did I feel in danger from a black bear and that was because her cubs stepped out into the road where I was. The airhorn scared the crap out of all them and they ran off just as fast as they could. Alaska is a wonderious, magical place and there is no need to live in fear here. I worry more being raped and attacked here then any thing else but I don't let that fear consume me. I see women do the stupidest things, jogging alone in isolated paths with ear phones on, being there after dark, not having no protection with them. Its all common sense. If you believe in it it is said: To see a wolf in your dream, symbolizes beauty, solitude, mystery, self-confidence and pride. You are able to keep your composure in a variety of social situations and can blend in with any situation with ease and grace. You are a loner by choice. Negatively, it represents hostility and aggression. It may also reflect an uncontrollable force or situation in your life. In particular, if the wolf is white, then it signifies valor and victory. You have the ability to see the light even in your darkest hours. An Online Guide To Dream Interpretation |

Whoa, this is me...I have dreams about me flying and all of a sudden power lines show up, it is a reoccurring dream.
"Having difficulties staying in flight indicates a lack of power in controlling your own circumstances. You may be struggling to stay aloft and stay on course. Things like power lines, trees, or mountains may further obstruct your flight. These barriers represent a particular obstacle or person who is standing in your way in your waking life. You need to identify who or what is hindering you from moving forward. If you are feeling fear when you are flying or that you feel that you are flying too high, then it suggests that you are afraid of challenges and of success." |

I like to do a little hiking alone in the woods.
I would carry a gun hiking if I lived in Alaska, otherwise I'd be taking too big of a risk with my life it seems. Mountain lions seem to be rare up around Anchorage, if there at all. They are dangerous because they like to sneak up on prey from behind, or jump down from above. I have heard moose are the most dangerous, but people don't realize it because they aren't predators! |
