The way I read it, the government thinks it's valuable as part of the hotel. If that's the case, it would likely auction off as part of the property and not separately. You'll either have to buy it all or try to buy the palm tree from whoever wins the property auction.

I have a very unique, two-tone custom lime green and rust 1977 Chevy plow truck in my driveway. Comes complete with a drag, a bed full of lumber-sicles and billions of 2018 vintage individual Fairbanks, Alaska snowflakes, and would not be complete without an Alaskan windshield! Make an offer. This sweet, sweet ride could be yours today!

*This offer of sale makes no proclamation of the last time the engine actually turned over, its condition, when its dip**** owner last changed the oil, or of when the plow actually pushed any snow.

Guess you could hit up the bachelor auction in Talkeetna in December.

Lol, I'm currently all good on snow and old plow trucks, but thanks. I'm also good on bidding on single Alaskan dudes for now. Just kind of interested in the sign.

However, it's going to be even harder to acquire the sign with all of its new found publicity. The stolen sign story was more popular then the Iditarod coverage yesterday and everyone and their mom wants it now. Old neon is hard to find in Alaska.

People were throwing out a $5,000 number for the sign, and it could probably fetch that at auction. Unless like northrick says and it will be auctioned off with the property, not separately, which would be a bummer.

Well, looks like you'll have to battle the state for your palm tree.

You can still snatch-up that plow truck that some wanker left in my driveway, though!

The sign lives on! It's been rescued from its "undisclosed" location and is being auctioned off now.

https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/anch...p-for-auction/

One appraiser said it's worth maybe $350-$500 and it doesn't even light up. The auction company disagrees and thinks its worth much more and has started the bidding off at $4500. I think they'll get it, the neon can easily be fixed and it is 22 feet tall.

The tree is now back in Spenard. Looking to get fixed up and then moved to a permanent home somewhere in Spenard.
