I wouldn't find someone wanting to register as a resident in Alaska so they can skip out on state taxes very nice. If this is not the OP's intention thats good and I apologize for my seemingly harsh remark. I don't know these people. How am I supposed to know what they are up too?

I can read, Travelmate. Can you write (rehtorical question, by the way)? Apparently not. The second sentence of your latest piece of absolute nonsense more than attests to that.

There are plenty of threads here concerning the PDF and your tirade here was unjustified. Don't try to weasel out of it by saying that your rantings weren't directed at the OP.

Not that it's any of your business, but I haven't received the PDF for over 20 years (don't need or want it; simple as that), so you're quite welcome to take your silly little snarling allusions and stuff them up your sanctimonious and sub literate ass.

Default residency varies

The answer to your question varies according to what you're applying it to. Residency rules vary for fishing licenses, applying for State jobs, getting senior property tax exemptions etc, etc. Kenai Borough just revised their eligibility for the senior property tax exemption.
Individual State vehicle licensing laws will dictate whether you can keep an Alaska registration.
I don't think you're a scammer and are very smart to ask these questions. And for what it's worth, it sounds like you WOULD qualify for the PFD if Alaska is your true residence and you are physically present for 6 mos or longer. I snowbird and am gone 5 mos a year and continue to get my dividend which I've received since the program started.

If I'm not mistaken, you're not supposed to get your pfd if you're gone more than 90 days, with no more than 60 consecutive.

Nope, it's 180 days :

State of Alaska - Permanent Fund Dividend Division (http://www.pfd.state.ak.us/faqs/index.aspx#outAK - broken link)

The real test seems to center on one's intent to remain an Alaska resident indefinitely.

One of your concerns seems to be having AK residency, so that you are not subject to income tax in another state. Regardless of whether or not AK considers you a resident, you must look at the laws of the other state to which you have ties. For example, when does Maine consider you a resident for taxation purposes?

Hi there.

I was just reading all of the messages for the couple moving. and some of it was easy enough to understand. But what i need to know is. how long would it take for a New Zealand Resedent (me) to become an Alaskan Citizen and how expensive it is?

I need to know as much as possible as i plan to move to Eagle River one day in the future. At the moment I'm only 18 and making money just to get a new UK Passport.

Please help, i've asked my mam about it but she wasnt much help. also what does PDF or is it PFD? mean?

I think you would need to be a US citizen first.
