Acupuncture Services & Chinese herbal medicine (Anchorage, Metlakatla: how much, gated, income)

Just curious about how much will it cost you to have an acupuncture treatment in Anchorage or nearby cities? Are you willing to pay out of your own pocket for that service? Are you willing to take acupuncture over pain killer to manage your physical discomfort? Or even take Chinese medicine for internal organ related issue for example Menopause, diarrhea, severe cold? Is there any hospital in Alaska offer acupuncture services?

If you ever had any acupuncture treatment done for you in AK, can one share a thought? Thanks

Alaska has enough quacks without this kind of hocus-pocus BS.

Had it on a dog and it worked. There are some docs that will do it on the qt but don't advertise.

Acupuncture is the poster child of alternative medicine: charismatically exotic but less absurd than homeopathy, and heavily researched, people assume there “must be something to it,” including many skeptics until surprisingly recently. But acupuncture gets its support only from junky science, while all the good tests show that it’s no better than a placebo, for pain or anything else. This has been conceded even by many acupuncture researchers (although they bizarrely try to spin it as good news). Even NCCAM admits that acupuncture “works no better than a sham treatment at easing symptoms like pain and fatigue.”

A friend of mine took her dogs to the Vet at the U; the service charge per treatment is very high. Curious about the acupuncture service fee range in Anchorage regardless is for patients or for pets.

I don't waste my money on quack medicine or junk science, so can't help you there, sorry.

Alaska's out of money, so if you're considering Anchorage as a place where a quack shop would have easy pickings, you're SOL. You should consider Seattle. Plenty of people there with more money than brains. Portland would be even better because it's been taken over by airheads.

I notice you're also thinking about going to California to practice acupuncture; that's a far better choice. More discretionary income -- you might even want to look into Ashland in Southern Oregon.
