Hi, I was thinking about moving to Alaska, but from many of the threads I've read, I have a feeling that people there are narrow minded.

Any comments?

Yeah. This ain't California. We think and do things differently here. Your more than welcome to move here...but it is highly recommended you leave your California ideals in California.
And I don't think judging all Alaskans by the comments of only a handfull of residents, on a forum...makes much sense. There are what...650 some thousand residents here...and only 6 or 7 regular residents on this forum.
Now...calling us narrow minded is a really good way to start off on the wrong foot. I'm guessing here but I'm thinking your refering to gay stuff? If thats your lifestyle then so be it. But please don't try to make a big issue out of it. I for one find it boring.

I didn't say Alaska was narrow minded and didn't mention it relating to being gay.

I've lived in other states to know that people like judging a person before getting to know them.

Thanks for your comment Rance

You did say you think people here are narrow minded. And no you did not mention anything about being gay. I'm just thinking that was what your referring to. If it's not...then why don't you explain what you were referring to. In what way do you feel we Alaskan people are narrow minded?

Hmm your beginning comment said that the people there are narrow minded. Sounds a bit to me that you have issues with judging folks, Alaska is the most forgiving State when it comes to individuals and their thinking and such.

Not sure what your asking in your thread or if you just want to put us down.

Thanks Rance, I guess we were typing at the same time with the same thoughts. I do hope he/she clarifies, as the second comment was a bit confusing.

I've read and chatted with some people on political views and they seem to be very right wing and judgemental. I had the impression many were narrow minded.

So do you feel are they or not? Wanted some insight on people living out there.

Well Oso, I don't live in Alaska, I live in Milwaukee, WI but I'm on this forum everyday & I gotta say, I think the people I've been chatting w/are very open & tolerant, no matter what area of Alaska they live in. Of course, there are a few who are very conservative & aren't afraid to show it. But overall, I've had nothing but positive interactions on here & I love coming to this forum.
