HA! You know that something like that would actually happen to me...

I'd be more worried about arsonists than drugs, myself

Well, the way I look at it, arson is usually a rare occurrence, and usually involves someone you know (I know, sometimes you just cross paths with a firestarter, but that is usually pretty rare).

Drugs on the other hand seem to both lead to more crimes, and happen in high crime areas, so when you see a lot of drug busts, it's probably a sign that it's not a very good part of town.

Anchorage is getting noticeably worse crime wise. I live in Wasilla and commute to Anchorage and areas that used to be pretty nice are hosting an increasing number of the homeless and aimless from the villages. The midtown area, Tudor by the medical center, downtown, all are seeing an influx of folks begging on street corners and worse. On Monday I saw a guy walking through a parking lot at 6th and Gambell with a tire iron looking in car windows in broad daylight, where one block up the street a fella was ranting and shouting at the cars going by. It's a level of unease that increases seemingly daily.

and then we have this Man wanted for attempted murder in Midtown attack: Crime | Alaska news at adn.com that is happening more often than before.

Rape is largely (not totally) found in a culture that does not traditionally respect women-and if you don't believe that to be true check the male/female ratios in some small towns. You find that the females leave as soon as they are able. There are reasons for this.

To be fair, try to find anyplace where civil society has not noticeably deteriorated. ANd then tell us where that is, I think we'd all like to go there.
