Moving to Mountain Village
What information can you share with me about Mountain Village AK? How much time do I have to order supplies for the year? How long does it take to deliver goods to MV? How long do you have to live in AK to become a resident? How much does a resident fishing and hunting license cost? When does the hunting season end? What airline flies into Mountain Village? How much luggage can I bring on this flight? Is Mountain Village a "dry" or "damp" village? Can you fish all year long?

Thanks,
Ted

Mountain Village is a town on the Yukon River only accessible by plane or boat. You can order anything from outlets year round, you already missed the cheap barge service already. You have to live in Alaska at least one calender year to be come a resident. A resident hunting license is normally around $15-25 dollars depending on what you get, don't cheat on this or they will fine you. Hunting is normally from September 1st-20th for moose hunting and bird hunting starts on the first as well. You have one choice on flying there, Frontier/Hageland Air, this is done in a Beech 1900C airplane which holds 19 passengers. You can also fly to Bethel and then over with Frontier/Hagelands, too. Mountain Village is a local option law village which means you can't bring in booze of any kind or sell it. Yes, you can fish all year round.

Chop a hole in the ice for fish? Geez, he's gonna have to chop ice for water. The bigger the blocks you can fit on your sled the less you gotta back. And the water barrel should be clearly marked so it's not confused with the honey bucket barrel.

Running water. Is that what you call hauling ice blocks on a sled behind a snowmachine, from the river to the house?

The 2000 census said there were 183 occupied homes in Mountain Village. The State of Alaska says that the water system pumps water from a well and is connected to 200 houses.
Maybe when you visited they gave you, ahhhmmmm, special housing?
