Midtown, Anchorage
We're now thinking about renting a house in Midtown. How is midtown Anchorage? How far from downtown? Nice? Things to do? Thanks!

Midtown is nice. It has good schools, a few nice restaurants (McGinleys is new and good). From UAA/APU you can get on good trails for skiing, hiking, riding bikes, etc. Downtown is about a 10 minute drive. The only downside for some people is that most neighborhoods are a little older. The houses are nice, but not the most modern. I guess it just depends on your personal taste.

When I lived in Alaska 90-03, I always lived in either Midtown or Muldoon area. Midtown is pretty nice. I think all of Anchorage is nice compared to other cities across the U.S. Hope you enjoy. I'm not sure what streets make up midtown. I never thought to memorize. Sorry,
Daniel

Can you compare it to any peer city as an example?

Not really. I have only lived in Anchorage or here in Tucson. I've been to a lot of other cities though and Anchorage is by far the cleanest and most attractive out of all.

Anchorage
It makes a big difference if it's a city of 300k and is mostly all nice rather than a city of that size with only have of it attractive.

I agree. I really miss Anchorage a lot. I wasn't born there, but I lived there from when I was 1 until I was 15. My brother and sister were born there, so basically when people ask where I'm from, i tell them Alaska. I'm proud of it too.
