Thumbs up April drive to Alaska

Homosassa, Florida to Healy, Alaska drive in April. any comments on long drive before summer season through Canada and on Alaska Highway? Gas stations open or close in some parts? camping and hotels and car rest stops. any other comments? thank you!

What will you be driving? Don't ever pass up a gas station if your tank is below half tank. Always keep it on the top side of that. The gas stations will be starting to open up that time and some of the larger lodges. Like they said, get a Milepost, the Alcan Bible! You can also check some websites that specialize on the highways/conditions.

Thanks for the info, I'll be making my trip next month. Will be going up the Alcan. Didn't know about the Milepost, but then I'm riding with someone who has made the trip many times.

The Milepost is a good investment even if you're not driving. Great info on towns and mile markers as you pass by. With that and a good map, you can write about your experiences as you pass these places by.

A digital camera and a notepad to write down what you took a picture of is always good, too.
